Claire Stansfield (Alti)
Pasadena, California: 5 May, 2001
Claire set the tone for her appearance the moment she stepped onto the
stage. Her first words were "Creation always tells me I'm not allowed to
swear, but I gotta tell you: I fucking love you guys!" The crowd cheered
enough to shake the seats, and we were off!
Like some of the other guests, Claire brought a gift for
the fans: a tape-recorded message of Danielle Cormack and Kevin Smith
saying hi to the convention crowd. It was hard to make out much that was
said through the sound system, but it was still a neat idea.
Claire offered an apology early on, apparently afraid that fans may have
been upset by their portrayal in Send in the Clones. "For anyone who took
any offense to Clones, we didn't mean anything by it!"
In Clones, Claire took particular joy in getting to do her own driving of
Alti's car. She was let loose in the junkyard and just told to go for it.
"Doing doughnuts in a muscle car when you're allowed is so much fun!"
Claire was very reminiscent about her part in this show. She spoke about
how much the show has given to her, in terms of being proud of being big,
of standing up straighter. She said she "didn't have the strength to play
Alti at first," but because of Lucy's encouragement and the show's pride,
she's grown into the role. "Alti gave me some balls," she summed up.
When asked if Claire still plays golf with Lucy, Claire said that shopping
has taken the place of golf in their hearts. Turns out neither were great at
golfing and have decided that shopping is much easier and more fun.
(Very minor spoiler alert for the next paragraph! If you're truly
spoiler-phobic, this is the end of Claire's report.)
Claire spoke a bit about When Fates Collide, next week's episode, which
she likes a lot. First thing she told us was that "I get laid!", which
everyone cheered mightily. She also said that Fates was her first
chance to show a little of Alti beyond the nastiness, a little bit of the
real character and what happened to make her who she is, which she really
enjoyed doing.
